Student Promotion

Promote students to the next form at the end of the academic year.

When to Promote Students

Student promotion is typically done:

  • At the end of the academic year
  • After final exam results are posted
  • Before the new academic year begins

Promotion Process

Step 1: Select Students

Review the list of students eligible for promotion. The system shows:

  • Student name and admission number
  • Current class/form
  • Target class (next form)
  • Overall performance summary

Step 2: Review Performance

Check each student's academic performance to determine eligibility:

  • Mean grade across all subjects
  • Attendance record
  • Any special considerations

Step 3: Select for Promotion

Use checkboxes to select students who should be promoted:

  • Select All - Promote all eligible students
  • Individual Selection - Choose specific students

Step 4: Confirm Promotion

  1. Review your selections
  2. Click Promote Selected Students
  3. Confirm in the dialog box
  4. Students are moved to the next form

Important

Promotion is a permanent action. Once students are promoted, their class assignment changes immediately. Make sure to review carefully before confirming.

Form Progression

Students progress through the following forms:

  • Form 1 → Form 2
  • Form 2 → Form 3
  • Form 3 → Form 4
  • Form 4 → Graduated/Alumni

Handling Repeaters

For students who need to repeat a year:

  1. Do not select them for promotion
  2. Their class remains unchanged
  3. Optionally, add a note in their record

After Promotion

Once students are promoted:

  • They appear in the new class roster
  • Previous year's data is preserved
  • New exam results will be under the new class
  • Attendance resets for the new year
