Student Promotion
Promote students to the next form at the end of the academic year.
When to Promote Students
Student promotion is typically done:
- At the end of the academic year
- After final exam results are posted
- Before the new academic year begins
Promotion Process
Step 1: Select Students
Review the list of students eligible for promotion. The system shows:
- Student name and admission number
- Current class/form
- Target class (next form)
- Overall performance summary
Step 2: Review Performance
Check each student's academic performance to determine eligibility:
- Mean grade across all subjects
- Attendance record
- Any special considerations
Step 3: Select for Promotion
Use checkboxes to select students who should be promoted:
- Select All - Promote all eligible students
- Individual Selection - Choose specific students
Step 4: Confirm Promotion
- Review your selections
- Click Promote Selected Students
- Confirm in the dialog box
- Students are moved to the next form
Important
Promotion is a permanent action. Once students are promoted, their class assignment changes immediately. Make sure to review carefully before confirming.
Form Progression
Students progress through the following forms:
- Form 1 → Form 2
- Form 2 → Form 3
- Form 3 → Form 4
- Form 4 → Graduated/Alumni
Handling Repeaters
For students who need to repeat a year:
- Do not select them for promotion
- Their class remains unchanged
- Optionally, add a note in their record
After Promotion
Once students are promoted:
- They appear in the new class roster
- Previous year's data is preserved
- New exam results will be under the new class
- Attendance resets for the new year
