    Post Exam Results

Upload exam results in bulk using CSV files or use the Quick Create feature for manual entry. The system automatically calculates grades using the KNEC grading system.

    Option 1: Bulk Upload (CSV)

    Step 1: Fill Exam Metadata

Enter the following information about the exam:

    FieldDescriptionExample
Exam TitleName of the examMid-Term Exam
    SubjectSubject being testedMathematics
    ClassClass taking the examForm 3A
    TermSchool term (1, 2, or 3)1
    YearAcademic year2024
    Total MarksMaximum possible score100
    Exam DateDate exam was conducted2024-03-15

Step 2: Prepare Your CSV File

Create a CSV file with the following format:

    admission_number,score,remarks
    12345,85,Excellent performance
    12346,72,Good work
    12347,91,Outstanding
    12348,65,Needs improvement

    CSV Requirements

    • • First row must be headers: admission_number,score,remarks
    • • Admission numbers must match existing students
    • • Scores must be numeric and not exceed total marks
    • • Remarks are optional but recommended

    Step 3: Upload and Validate

Drag and drop your CSV file into the upload area. The system will validate the data and show any errors before saving.

Option 2: Quick Create (Manual Entry)

If you don't have a CSV file ready, you can use the Quick Create feature to set up an exam and enter scores manually later.

    How it Works

    1. Select "Quick Create" mode on the Post Results page.
    2. Fill in the exam details (Subject, Class, Term, etc.).
    3. Click "Create Exam".
    4. You will be redirected to the View Results page.
    5. The system automatically populates the grid with all students in the class.
    6. Enter scores directly into the grid.

    Best For

    Quick Create is ideal for:

    • Small classes
    • Entering scores as you mark papers
    • When you don't have a spreadsheet ready
    1. Click "Choose File" and select your CSV
    2. The system validates all entries automatically
    3. Review any warnings or errors displayed

    Validation Checks

    • Missing Students - Warns if admission numbers aren't in the database
    • Class Mismatch - Alerts if student isn't in the selected class
    • Invalid Scores - Flags scores exceeding total marks
    • Duplicate Entries - Prevents duplicate student results

    Step 4: Submit Results

    After validation:

    1. Review the preview table showing all results
    2. Verify grades are calculated correctly
    3. Click "Upload Results" to submit
    4. Receive confirmation message

    Automatic Grade Calculation

Grades are calculated automatically using the KNEC system:

    GradeRangeGradeRange
    A80-100%C50-54%
    A-75-79%C-45-49%
    B+70-74%D+40-44%
    B65-69%D35-39%
    B-60-64%D-30-34%
    C+55-59%E<30%

    Common Issues

    "Student not found"

The admission number doesn't exist in the database. Verify the student is registered and approved.

    "Score exceeds total marks"

A student's score is higher than the total marks. Check your CSV for typos.

    "Duplicate exam entry"

An exam with the same title, subject, term, and year already exists. Edit the existing exam instead.
